Our AI providers
Last updated: 2026-10-12
To understand you, reply and do web tasks, Diala sends your voice and messages to the services listed here. You agreed to this at sign-in, by ticking the box that names these providers. Nothing is shared for ads. Diala can't work without these services, so there is no setting to turn this off. To stop, delete your account in Settings › Delete account.
LiveKit
- Where: USA (servers in several countries)
- Receives: Your voice and messages, Diala's replies, recent chat history, the preferences, likes and dislikes Diala saved for you and their summary, parts of your past chats and calls when you ask about them, screenshots from web tasks, what Diala reads from or adds to your connected apps when you ask, the Apple Health data you ask about, and your profile details (name, assistant name, gender, voice, language, city and time zone).
- Purpose: Runs Diala's assistant, carries your voice, messages and screenshots live between the app and the assistant, filters background noise out of your voice during calls (enhanced noise cancellation), and passes requests to the AI models and voices it hosts for us (LiveKit Inference).
Google Gemini
- Where: USA (servers in several countries)
- Receives: Your messages, the text of what you say in calls, recent chat history, the preferences, likes and dislikes Diala saved for you and their summary, parts of your past chats and calls when you ask about them, your profile details, what Diala reads from or adds to your connected apps when you ask, the Apple Health data you ask about, web searches Diala runs for you, and the pages and screenshots from web tasks.
- Purpose: Diala's main AI model. It understands your messages, writes Diala's replies, translates call transcript lines into the app's language, summarises the preferences Diala saved for you, plans deep research, searches the web when Perplexity can't, and decides each step of a web task.
Anthropic Claude
- Where: USA
- Receives: When it steps in for Google Gemini, the same kinds of data: your messages, the text of what you say in calls, recent chat history, the preferences, likes and dislikes Diala saved for you and their summary, parts of your past chats and calls when you ask about them, your profile details, what Diala reads from or adds to your connected apps when you ask, the Apple Health data you ask about, and the pages and screenshots from web tasks. For deep research: your question, the pages found and your city, if you set one.
- Purpose: Writes the answers to deep research. It also writes Diala's replies, and decides the steps of a web task, when Gemini is unavailable (backup).
Perplexity
- Where: USA
- Receives: The search words Diala sends for web searches and deep research, and your city, if you set one. The search words can include details from your request, such as a place or a date. We don't send your name or account with them.
- Purpose: Searches the web for Diala. It is Diala's main web search.
Soniox
- Where: USA
- Receives: Your voice during calls.
- Purpose: Turns your speech into text during calls, in whatever language you speak, so Diala understands you and replies in your language.
Fish Audio
- Where: USA
- Receives: The text of Diala's replies during calls, in every language except Arabic, sent through LiveKit.
- Purpose: Turns Diala's replies into speech in the voice you picked, in every language except Arabic.
ElevenLabs
- Where: USA
- Receives: The text of Diala's Arabic replies during calls, and your voice during calls when Soniox is unavailable.
- Purpose: Turns Diala's Arabic replies into speech in the voice you picked, and turns your speech into text if Soniox is unavailable (backup).
Inworld AI
- Where: USA
- Receives: The text of Diala's replies during calls, when Fish Audio or ElevenLabs is unavailable.
- Purpose: Speaks Diala's replies if Fish Audio or ElevenLabs is unavailable (backup voice).
Cloudflare (incl. Browser Run)
- Where: USA (servers in many countries)
- Receives: When a chat or call starts: your sign-in token, IP address and profile details. During web tasks: the web addresses Diala visits and what it types there, such as search words or dates. If you connect an app such as Gmail, Notion or Todoist: the access that app gives Diala, encrypted before it is stored.
- Purpose: Runs the session server that checks you are signed in and have agreed to AI use, the cloud browser Diala uses for web tasks (Browser Run), and the connection server for the accounts you connect. Websites see Cloudflare's address, not yours.
Supabase
- Where: Germany (EU, Frankfurt)
- Receives: Your email, profile, consent records, chats and call transcripts, plan status, usage events, and the encrypted access for accounts you connect.
- Purpose: Stores your account and data, and handles sign-in.
Resend
- Where: USA
- Receives: Your email address and your one-time sign-in code.
- Purpose: Sends the sign-in code to your email.
Your voice
Your voice is streamed live during calls. Diala does not record or store it anywhere. Background noise is filtered out of it on LiveKit's servers as it streams, to make it clearer. Only the text transcript is saved, as that call's own conversation in your history.
Web tasks
Web tasks run in a signed-out cloud browser. Websites see the visit from Cloudflare and what Diala types to do the task, but not your name or account. Screenshots are shown only when you ask to see them, and never stored by Diala. Google Gemini, which steers the task, may keep them in its logs for a limited time, only to detect abuse. When Gemini is unavailable, Anthropic Claude steers it instead.
Connected apps
Diala uses your iPhone calendar, reminders and contacts, Apple Health, or the apps you connect (such as Gmail, Notion or Todoist), only if you turn each one on or connect it in Settings › Connections, and only for what you ask. What it reads or adds goes to the providers above like the rest of the conversation. Apple Health is read only after a separate consent, and its data goes to them only to answer your question. Our Privacy Policy explains the details, including how we handle data from Google APIs.
If this list changes
If we add a provider, or send one a new kind of data, we will update this page and tell you in the app before anything is sent. If you don't agree, you can delete your account.
